Wish Me LUCK!!!

Well, this Sunday will be another Empyrean BeerQuest comp. I will be serving a German style beer called Kolsch. The event is sold out, but you can still wish me luck on Sunday. I have been competing in this comp for a long time now and came close to winning it on a few occasions. Maybe this weekend will be my time. Check out the linky for Empyrean and the BQ!

Upstream Brewing Co.

Hey all, I just thought I would put down a few words about this fantastic brewpub/brewery. I ate and drank down at the Oldmarket location in Omaha, Ne today with the wife and son. I ordered the Cask ESB, but they were out so the manager on shift offered to BUY me a pint of my selection. So, I went with the old standby....IPA. I also had the Oatmeal Stout and it was good too. It was served on Nitro if you are into that sort of thing.

This establishment has been a favorite of mine ever since Zac T. took over the Head Brewmeister job. These guys are really pushing the envelope in my opinion. The beers are well made and served in proper condition. And all the hard work has paid off for the crew with 3 Great American Brew Fest (GABF) medals. These guys know what they are doing!!! Go, drink some beer, eat some food, play some pool, and then leave fat and happy!

Modern Monks

Ok, so I like to brew beer...right that is the name of this damn blog. So, I thought I would post a linky to a brewery out in Kearney called Thunderhead that has done some contract brewing for a group of brewers called the Modern Monks. Our latest offering called a Smoked Bock was just kegged in Kearney, Ne and will be on tap in Lincoln at Yia Yia's for sure with in the next few months. Big thanks must be given to Trevor, the Head Brewmeister for ThunderHead Brewery for allowing us to come in and use all his equipment and knowledge.

The Modern Monks Smoked Bock will be a malty German lager that has a nice taste of German Rauch Malt to give the beer a balanced smokiness. The beer should go great with some of the pizza offerings that Yia Yia's puts out. And it will be the perfect fall/winter warmer beer as it should clock in around 7-8% ABV. Peace out
